Who Needs the MOT Manager Course?

Anyone who wants to run a DVSA authorised vehicle testing facility will need to gain a Level 3 Award in MOT Test Centre Management. According to the DVSA, anyone who manages or plans to manage an MOT Testing Centre must complete this qualification.

Course Content

Customer Service and Business Administration

Managing an MOT Test Centre isn’t about technical knowledge – it’s about business. This course teaches effective communication, managing appointments and dealing with complaints. You’ll also learn about managing staff and maintaining productivity.

Employee Care and Quality Assurance

Supervising MOT Testers means ensuring they follow correct procedures and complete required annual refresher training (CPD). You’ll study how to plan annual training sessions, record keeping, implement internal quality checks, VTS systems and audits.

Facilities and Equipment Management

This module covers the maintenance of MOT testing equipment and workshop health and safety. MOT Managers must keep facilities compliant to DVSA standards, handle audits and maintain records.

Assessment and Certification

The course usually concludes with a multiple‑choice assessment. Participants must demonstrate understanding of legislation, customer service and operational management.
